The design and custom furniture was provided to serve the Chazen Art Museum’s patrons with a space to reflect, read or converse with friends. The shelves hold artist books provided by the Kholer Art Library. The colors and textures were influenced by the museum’s distinguished Japanese print collection.
UW-Madison’s advanced woodworking team was giving the opportunity to design and fabricate the furniture. I took part in designing the bench and fabricating the shelving unit. While floating between design teams, I worked to create conversation between the designs and team members.
